Margo B. Holm, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, ABDA, served as the impetus for evidence-based practice in occupational therapy, using her 2000 Eleanor Clarke Slagle Lecture to emphasize the need for providing evidence of occupational therapy’s effectiveness to third-party payers and policymakers. She also conducted research necessary to move occupational therapy accreditation from under the American Medical Association to ACOTE. With Joan Rogers, Holm co-authored the Performance Assessment of Self-Care Skills (PASS). Her research focuses on measuring the outcomes of medical, surgical, psychiatric, and rehabilitation interventions. Read Holm’s Slagle Lecture.
